What are Invisalign and other clear aligners made of?
Invisalign clear aligners are typically crafted from medical-grade thermoplastic material and molded to fit the patient’s mouth. This material is flexible enough to allow for the natural movement of your mouth and teeth while strong enough to apply the necessary pressure for movement to straighten your smile. Each aligner is custom-made for your unique situation by using digital 3D images taken during your initial Invisalign consultation at our office or a series of impressions taken.
After your consultation and 3D scan:
Following the consultation and initial 3D images from your scan, our team will work with Invisalign to slightly adjust each set of trays you receive during your treatment period. Using the latest in 3D printing technology, these aligners are crafted one at a time with each successive aligner being slightly different than the last. This allows for gradual adjustment of teeth over time to their desired position.
At Search Dental in Mechanicsburg, we know how important it is that your Invisalign clear aligners fit correctly and feel comfortable while you wear them. That’s why Dr. Joseph Search and our team take the time to make sure your aligners are custom-crafted to fit you perfectly and provide you with the best possible result. If there are times when your aligner trays are uncomfortable, you may want to call our team to talk. Sometimes this is simply due to a new set of trays, which are moving your teeth closer to their final position, or it could be due to other irritation that our team may be able to assist with.
